WT:Social to Prioritize Latest Content

Science Innovations

Jimmy Wales, Wikipedia co-founder has launched a new social media platform named WT:Social with a promise not to run advertisements or sell user data. WT:Social will follow a different algorithm compared to its competitors Facebook and Twitter in prioritising news based on currency rather than engagement. He said he was inspired to create WT:Social without ads, as commercial interests caused content quality in other social media platforms to decline. The new social media platform has Facebook-like feed and willshow newer content first. Already 160,000 people have signed up for WT:Social launched in October this year.
