Plastic Straws Use to Be Regulated in UK

Policy Indications

The UK Government has decided to introduce restrictions on the use of plastic straws from next year. Super markets will not be allowed to sell the product while registered pharmacies and online companies will be allowed to sell them. This is to ensure that the product is not denied to disabled groups. Bars, restaurants not to be allowed to display the straws while plastic stirrers will be totally subject to ban. The European Union had earlier adopted a plan to ban plastic straws, plastic plates, plastic cutlery by 2021.The World Wildlife Foundation has called for full ban of single use plastic by 2025.
