Patent for Innovative Face Shield Against Covid

Daniel's Face Shield, an innovative face shield that is comfortable to wear and reduces considerably the chances of Corona virus spread has been developed by Philip Daniel, a management consultant with over 35 years of experience in automobile industry based in Kochi. It has received an Indian patent (no. 365334).

The mask is transparent and  secured on the face with an elastic velcro belt. It has two filters on either side and fabric filters can be replaced after a certain period of usage. Unique battery powered air exchange system ensures that all the exhaled air is replaced and there is fresh air to breathe. You can use the mobile phone or listen to music without taking the mask. It can also shield the wearer from air pollutants too. Conventional face masks cause discomfort which result in people wearing it wrongly. Fabric masks restrict flow of air causing breathelessness and exhaled air is inhaled back again. It creates temptation to touch face and mask which may be infected. It can cause skin irritation and also bacteria formation. Loss of identity also discourages people from wearing fabric masks, Philip Daniel said. He said he is looking for collaborators to commercialise his invention. 

The product was demonstrated to the public seven months ago in the 63rd Rajagiri Round Table Conference and Mr Christy Fernandez, the Chairman of Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) who was a panelist in the event was pleased with the innovation and made an offer to fund the development of the product. Philip Daniel is a founder member of Rajagiri Round Table Conference and has enriched the event with his insights and studied observations on educational issues.
