Oxygen Concentrator, Generation System Developed by Indian Institute of Science

Researchers at Indian Institute of Science have developed an oxygen concentration capable of delivering more than 93±3% purity oxygen at 10 litres per minute (LPM). The stability and performance of the system monitored continuously for more than eight months.  The Oxygen Generation System is based on a twin-bed swing adsorption system integrated with storage and discharge vessels, and various safety system. In one of the variants, a cylinder-filing mechanism has also been incorporated using a boost pump. The oxygen produced fulfills the quality requirements prescribed by Indian Pharmacopeia and can be used in ICU/CCUs/OTs and other clinical wards.  A unique feature of this system is the capability to fill about ten 47-litre cylinders at 200 bar pressure within 24 hours, apart from supplying oxygen to patient beds.
