MediaTek may bring out 5G technology prior to Qualcomm

MediaTek has sharpened focus to bring out 5G technology in their upcoming products, post strategies made by telcos.

“MediaTek is heavily investing in 5G development. We expect devices aligned with 3.5 Ghz range to come by 2019,” MediaTek Director— Technology Mohamed Elsaidny quotes.

Rival Qualcomm expects that original equipment makers would launch 5G smartphones early 2019.


Elsaidny, a former Qualcomm engineer, said that the company is also working aggressively to reduce power consumption in upcoming 5G-enabled smartphoness, as it will be key requirement due to the upsurge in data usage, would drain battery quickly.
