Manipur to Further Upgrade 60 Schools

Manipur Government has decided to get ahead with the up-gradation of 60 schools in 60 Assembly constituencies as per the ‘School Fagathansi Mission’. In the second phase, infrastructure development, provision of dual desks and benches, postings of teachers will be undertaken, according to S Rajen Singh, Education Minister. Civil works like repairing and renovation of classrooms/ construction of toilet blocks & additional classrooms will be undertaken for Phase II. The implementation of the first phase had led to increasing in enrolment of schools. The percentage of enrolment in government schools had increased and dropouts will also be reduced with better amenities. In total, there are 2175 government schools providing education from lower primary to higher secondary levels, 663 under district councils and about 1500 in the private aided and unaided category.
