Technology Inceptions

India will establish one lakh digital villages with facilities such as fibre optic based broadband connection, public wi-fi, computer center, e-health and e-education services amongst others, according to Ravi Shankar Prasad, Minsiter of Law and Justic, Communications and Electronics and IT.
Inaugurating the second national council meeting of Confederation of Indian Industry, he said that the digital India initiative helped set up BPOs (Business Process Outsourcing) and common service centres in villages that deliver great services to common man. There are 240 BPOs across India established in smaller cities.
He pointed out that India has moved ahead in electronic manufacturing. When he had taken over the ministry in his previous tenure, there were only two companies operating in this area which has now increased to 268 companies. More than 300 hospitals have been connected via e-hospitals, over 150 countries connected through e-Visa scheme.
