Padma Awards are the highest
civilian honour given to Indian citizens for excellence or exceptional
achievements in various fields and disciplines.
It includes-Art, Literature and
Education, Sports Medicine, Social Work, Science, Engineering, Public Affairs,
Civil Service, Trade and Industry.
Who are eligible to be nominated?
All citizens irrespective of
caste, creed, sex or occupation. Government employees working in Public Sector
Undertakings except doctors and scientists are not eligible.
Who can nominate for Padma
Awards?
State Governments, Central
Ministries, Union territories can nominate talented persons for the awards. All
citizens can make nominations including self nomination.
Where can I make the nominations?
The nominations shall be received
only online on the Padma portal www.padmaawards.gov.in More details of the
awards are available under the section 'Awards and Medals' on the website of
Ministry of Home Affairs. (www.mha.gov.in).Last
date for nominations is September 15, 2019.
When are the Padma Awards announced/presented?
Padma Awards are announced on the occasion of Republic Day, January 26.
