Now research has shown how even short workout can enhance memory, according to a study conducted among 34 people with an average of 67.
The participants in the study took part a 20-minute workout in a stationary bike that made them sweaty. The MRI scans of the brain were taken before and after the workout. They also undertook memory tests prior to and after workouts. It was found that they could remember faces they had previously seen much better after a workout.
The findings have implications not only for adults but also for children although survey of wider samples is required and over longer duration of time. Study of how cognitive improvements can also happen for children if they exercise regularly could be useful for schools to adopt such programs for children.
