9 Things a Boy should be Taught!

Parent Interventions

Being the parents of a girl child is considered as an "extra" responsible job. On the contrary, the little man in your family also needs special attention. He also should be taught certain things from the family before he steps out to venture the world. Here are the 9 things every parent should tell their boys.

1. Sexual abuse can happen to boys too:

Who said only girls should be cautious about such attempts? Our boys are not safe either. They are more tormented that they think this ever happen to brave boys. Let them know the truth and make them strong enough to speak up if such instances happen.

2. It is okay to cry:

For God's sake stop saying "boys don't cry!"Crying is not a shameful thing. Venting out of emotions is very necessary for a healthy psyche.

3.Etiquette:

A girl grows up listening to her parents or family members about the way she should sit, talk or dress up. But boy should also be taught the right etiquettes. He should be aware of good etiquettes, which will make him a better human being.

4. Consent:

Seeking parents' permission for late night parties, stay overs etc are not merely for girls. Boys too should be taught them. From the very young age he should understand the importance of consent of others in everything he does with them.

5. Cleaning:

Let the boy clean his room and the place he lives. He should never be hesitant to take a broom when the situation comes.

6. Cooking:

Let them learn to cook for themselves. In later part of their life, they should not be dependent on others for home cooked food. Let this be bare minimal cooking. But, make sure they do!

7. Grooming:

Dressing up and grooming oneself is not  girls' monopoly. There is nothing wrong in getting the best out of you. Teach them to dress up for themselves well.

8. Sewing:

You are going for an important meeting. Suddenly you see a button is missing from the place. Enough reason to panic! If you know how to fix up a button, patching up a loose stitch, you will be thankful in certain dreadful situation.

9. Respect woman:

This world would be a better place if every man learns to respect women, and by women we mean not just his mother or sisters. Like a boy is taught to respect and protect his mother and sister, he should also be encouraged to extend the same courtesy to other women
