Katha's Books on Kindle to Engage Children During Covid-19 Lockdown
Katha, which has a large
repository of children's books to its credit, has now released fifteen of them
online through Kindle to help children utilise the Covid-19 lockdown days to
enhance their curiosity, imagination and intellectual skills.
Says Geeta Dharmarajan, Founder, Katha: “Katha believes that books play a very crucial role in everyone’s life. In our endeavour to ensure that reading remains an integral part of the lives of our future decision makers, and preserve the essence of reading for fun and for meaning, Katha’s basket of books of many hues, colours and textures, continues to strengthen reading for fun and meaning with books, even in today’s challenging times. The objective remains to empower children to forge ahead on their way to reading and learning, whilst mastering the challenges of today, and shaping the world of tomorrow.”
Not only do books serve as one’s best friend, but also as food for the mind and soul, especially in these rather challenging COVID 19 times. With the lockdown in progress, parents stand in growing need of engaging their children in a manner that stimulates self-discovery, and not just mere reading. Children, on the other hand, wish to enjoy the journey of reading. Katha’s books serve as a catalyst for encouraging learning through reading, while making it a journey of retrospection, introspection, unlearning and relearning – a unique experience in its own right.
With books shops and libraries closed, it is hard to get print version of books. Hence, the release of Katha’s books in Kindle versions, though the medium has changed, the joy of experiencing the book is guaranteed to be the same.
